Obituary for David Brian Mulholland
David Brian Mulholland, 64, of San Francisco, CA passed away peacefully on Friday July 2, 2021. He was born in Fitchburg, MA on June 11, 1957 to David and Maureen Mulholland. David grew up in Tolland, CT and graduated from Tolland High School in 1975. After graduating from high school, David worked at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft before moving to San Francisco in 1984. In 1994, he started his own company, MDM Limousine. Through hard work and long hours, he and his business partner created a very successful company. He took great pride in his 27 years in business.
He enjoyed everything about the Bay Area - running in the Bay to Breakers, cycling across the Golden Gate Bridge, and driving his vintage VW Bug around. David was an avid cyclist who competed in amateur bike races. In 1991, he completed a solo bike ride across the United States from California to Connecticut. He belonged to an extensive cycling community in San Francisco. He had many cycling friends who would like to thank him for opening up an incredible new world to them as seen on two wheels. He enjoyed introducing them to rides in the Marin Hills and racing them to the top of its steep climbs. One of his cycling friends said it best: thank you for being my patient teacher and for so enthusiastically showing me how to love the Bay Area’s coastal hills that I didn’t think I could possibly love any more than I already did. You taught me how to climb. You taught me how to descend. You taught me how to corner through an S-curve like nobody’s business. And you taught me how (just that one time) to plot the most amazing and victorious sneak attack on Hawk Hill. We wish we could ride with you again and we wish we could hear your laugh again.
He leaves many friends in Tolland. He is survived by his mother, Maureen Mulholland, his brothers Mark and James Mulholland, his sister-in-law Jill Mulholland, and his niece Eva Mulholland.
