Obituary for Reginald “Reggie” Lavoie

Reginald J. Lavoie ("Reggie"), Age 84, of Windsor, CT formerly of Colchester, CT peacefully passed away on August 17, 2021 under hospice care at Hartford Hospital. Reggie was born on September 7, 1937, the 6th of 7 children in Grand Isle, ME. He lived in Grand Isle all his childhood. His family moved to Connecticut where he lived his adult life. He pursued a career in his 20's at the Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford, CT and retired as a Budget and Financial Analyst after 30+ years of dedicated service. While working full time, and raising 2 young daughters, he earned his BS in Sociology at The University of Hartford. Reggie was a hardworking, sociable and a kind man. Everyone who knew Reggie loved him. Residing in Colchester for most of his life, and in addition to his full-time career With Travelers, He loved listing & selling homes for the town's Century 21 real estate. In his middle years, he started a local Income Tax Preparation business and continued his business until this past year. He was very devoted to his clients over the years. I'm sure they will miss him.
Reggie LOVED playing and watching sports. Over the years, he played intramural hockey, summer softball in Colchester, and in his later years golf with friends. Tag football with his nephews when they were teens. He coached the town Century21 softball team and umpired for the Colchester league. He was a diehard Yankees fan and a UCONN Women's Basketball fan, watching and attending games. Reggie was a devout Catholic. Throughout his life, he attended mass every Sunday, Holy Day, ushered, and became a eucharistic minister at St. Andrews Church in Colchester. He was member of the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus. During the last 17 years, Reggie has resided in Windsor, CT with his lovely wife, Fay. They loved to travel the world, members of the Goodspeed Opera House & attend church. Reggie loved playing golf with friends, tending his vegetable garden and socializing with his neighbors and community.
Reggie was also a longtime and dedicated volunteer at the UCONN Farmington Health Center.
He is survived by his loving wife, Fay, of 17 years. Two Daughters, Laurie Roffman of Boston, MA and Sherie Lavoie of Boston, MA; Stepdaughter Sooyeon Kim and husband Hoijin of Belchertown, MA; Three Granddaughters, Chelsea Roffman of Cambridge, MA, Lindsay Roffman and Fiancee Cam Kyle of Somerville, MA, and Leah Roffman of Wilmington, NC; Two Step Grandsons Richard Kim and Sidney Kim both of Belchertown, MA. He is also survived by Two Brothers and One sister. Normand, Lavoie and wife Marie of Meriden, CT, Alphee Lavoie and wife Carol of West Hartford, CT and Viola Cote of East Swanzey, NH. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Reggie was an exceptional and loving father. He will be loved and missed by all. He touched the hearts and souls of many people. May the Lord be with you and Rest in Peace Reggie.
Relatives and friends may join the family on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 from 5pm-8pm at the Bassinger and Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner Street, East Windsor, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 11am at St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad Street, Windsor, CT. Burial will follow at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield.
