Obituary for Michael Kubeck

Michael Kubeck passed away unexpedtedly on October 13, 2021. Michael was born in the Ukraine on April 4, 1944. His family came to the United States in 1948 moving first to Virginia later moving to New Britain, Connecticut where he spent his formative years. He graduated from New Britain High School and went on to attend college in Minnesota. Following college he went on to receive his masters degree in social work from the University of Connecticut. Michael worked in the department of Psychiatry at the University of Connecticut Health Center as a clinical social worker, supervisor and associate clinical professor working with both social work interns and psychiatry residents from 1975-1995. After retiring from UConn Health Center he worked at New Britain Hospital outpatient of psychiatry, geriatric services and had a private practice in Farmington, Connecticut at the Anxiety and Depression Treatment Center. He retired in 2014.

Michael is survived by his daughter Amy Kubeck of Boston Massachusetts, his sister Peggy Shafran and her husband Dmitri, his brother John Kokotiuk and his wife Lynne, brother Stanley Kokotiuk and his wife Terri, and several nieces and nephews. In addition Michael will be dearly missed by his wife Millicent Ward Flynn and her daughters Julie Flynn Mullane and husband Tom, Anne Flynn Zeppieri and her husband Bob, and Erin Flynn along with their children.

Relatives and friends may join the family on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 between 9am-10am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel, 46 N Eagleville Road, Storrs, CT. Burial will follow at New Storrs Cemetery in Storrs, CT. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
