Obituary for Joanne Maurath (Wing)

Joanne L. (Wing) Maurath, 86, of Cumberland RI and wife of the late William R. Maurath passed away December 8, 2021 after a short illness. She was born on September 30, 1935 to the late Arthur and Rose (Francoer) Wing. Joanne enjoyed watching British television as well as shows on decorating and antiquing, which was reflected in her Victorian-style furnishings. In her spare time, Joanne crocheted beautiful afghans for her family and friends and often regaled to her loved ones fond memories of her hometown, Newburyport. She was an avid book reader, which her extensive library collection could attest to, and had a passion for poetry and scripture. Joanne worked as a nurse’s aid for the VA Medical Center in Brockton, MA. Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Maurath; son, Robert W. Maurath; daughter, Susan Weintraub; grandson, Joseph M. Giuca and granddaughter Elisha Tucker. She is survived by her children, Nancy Giuca, Joanne Tucker, Diane Lalli and William Maurath Jr. Joanne had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored, listed hereafter: Granddaughter, Lisa Hansen and her husband Jonathan of Stafford, CT and their children, Julia, Elizabeth and Lillian. Grandson, Anthony Giuca and his wife Jillian of Stafford, CT and their children Gavin and Logan. Grandson David Selby and his wife Ella of Verona, NJ and their daughter, LeeAnn Grandson Andrew Weintraub and his wife Amy of North Easton, MA and their children Aliyah and Matthew. Granddaughter, Jackie Weintraub of East Providence and her children, Arthur and Adreana. Granddaughter, Cori Weintraub of RI and her children Jayden and Caleb. Granddaughter, Stephanie Tucker of North Carolina. Grandson, Michael Tucker of MA and his son Ethan. Grandson, Jason Lillias and his wife Brittany of WA, as well as Jason’s siblings, Samantha and John. Grandson, Blaise Lalli Sr. and his brother, Nick Lalli. Granddaughter, Nicole La Vie of Meriden CT and her son Dameon, as well as her siblings , Melissa Caffery, Joshua Maurath, Caitlin Maurath, Meagan Maurath, and Taylor Mitchum. Joanne also leaves behind many dear friends at Bear Hill Village, in particular Maurice “Mo” Montmarquette and John Tautenham. Services will be private and held at the family’s own discretion and convenience.
