Obituary for Nancy Falconetti DeFilippo

Nancy Falconetti DeFilippo, 102, of Tolland CT, beloved wife of the late Carmine Anthony DeFilippo passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022. She was born January 16, 1920 in NY, the daughter of the late Gregory and Mary Falconetti of Jersey City, New Jersey.

When in her twenties during the Big Band Era, she sang at the Roseland Ballroom, and on local radio stations. Worked at Carnegie Hall as the sheet music coordinator until becoming ill with tuberculosis and remained in quarantined for several months. Upon her recovery she ventured into the sewing industry as a contract manufacture for Haddad Children Clothing line, Baptismal gowns, and Communion Dresses, and Lady Esther Lingerie, for 50 years.

Hobbies, included knitting, fine hand embroidery.

She is survived by her brother Eugene Falconetti of Waymart, PA; son, Vincent DeFilippo of Tolland, CT; daughter and son- in- law, Dina and Daniel Garafola of Coventry, CT; Grandson and his wife, Peter and Sara Garafola of Danielson, CT; Granddaughter and her husband, Rebecca and Gordon Holmes of Columbia; and Great-Grand children Rachel, Victoria, Michael, Genevieve Holmes and Elizabeth Garafola.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers and sister-in-laws, Lawrence and Emma Babbio Sr. of Jersey City, N.J., Vincent James and Gertrude Falconetti of Red Bank N.J.; Joseph R. and Dee Falconetti Sr. of Denver, CO., George Falconetti of Jersey City, N.J.; Sisters and brother-in-laws, Rosie and Joseph Scerbo of Jersey City, N.J., Antoinette and Vito Scalia of Jersey City, N.J., and Jennie R. Falconetti of Jersey City, N.J.

An Offertory Rosary for the Repose of Nancy’s soul will be said at 10:00am before the Catholic Burial Mass which will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Saint. Mary Church, 1600 Main St., Coventry, CT. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Coventry.
