Obituary for James A. Yoreo

James Arthur Yoreo, 95, of Tolland, CT passed away at home on Saturday (May 14, 2022) surrounded by his wife and son. He was married to Teresa (Ertel) Yoreo for 62 years. Born in 1927 in Rockville,CT to the late Dominic and Ethel (Connor) Yoreo. He served in the United States Army during World War II. A life long parishioner of the Blessed Sacrament Parish in Rockville and Tolland, and charter member of the Knights of Columbus council 4122. He is survived by his sister Jane Adams, his daughter Margaret Moffett, son Dan, and grandchild Rebecca Moffett. He was predeceased by his oldest son David. He was a trumpet player in a band early in high school, and worked as a Jig-boarder for the Hartford Special Machinery before becoming a letter carrier for 32 years. He built a boat and enjoyed skiing before being married. He enjoyed playing golf with his son as long as he could, enjoyed reading Catholic books, attending daily Mass, gardening, home improvement projects, building model planes and rockets and attending John Denver concerts with his children, watching home improvement and cooking shows, and working outside. Following UConn women's basketball and the Patriots were also part of this life. He instilled a solid work ethic and belief in God into his children. His family would like to thank the staff at the DeQuattro Cancer center, Manchester and Rockville hospitals, the first responders and ambulance companies that assisted him, Robert from the HomeAids, the Visiting Nurse association, and Dr Orris (primary care), Dr Kapoor and his APRN Laura (oncology). We also want to acknowledge the faithful service the priests (past and present) of the Blessed Sacrament Parish. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Blessed Sacrament Parish - St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville, CT. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Rockville.
