Obituary for Marjorie J. Lavoie

Marjorie J. Lavoie, 95, of Ellington, beloved wife of 47 years to the late Henry Joseph Lavoie passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born November 12, 1926 in New York City, NY, the daughter of the late Henry and Anna Kirch.
Marjorie retired from The Hartford Insurance Group after 37 years in the Stenographic/Word Processing Dept.
Marjorie had a passion for and loved music, especially the Big Band Sound of the 40's. She was a participant in several choirs over the years, including the Hartford Chorale, Vernon Chorale and most recently St. Luke's Adult Choir for 27 years.
Another favorite hobby was making ceramics and attending classes and shows since 1972. Marjorie continued working on ceramics giving them as gifts for family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Gerstenlauer and husband Gary, and Mark Lavoie and his significant other, Tammy Cooper.
She is also survived by four (4) grandchildren, Gary Gerstenlauer, Jr., Justin Lavoie, Jacqueline Lavoie Valenzuela and Bruce Lavoie as well as four (4) great grandchildren, Cecilia Valenzuela, Kelby Gerstenlauer, Quinn Gerstenlauer, and Caroline Lavoie.
Marjorie also leaves behind a sister, Anna Hyde and brother, Henry Kirch, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Gregory Lavoie and brother, Rudolph Kirch.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 25th at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Luke’s Church, 141 Maple St., Ellington.
Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Rockville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
