Norrine T. Hughes, 85, of Vernon, beloved wife of the late Richard Hughes passed away Thursday, June 16, 2022. She was born September 8, 1936 in Hartford, the daughter of the late Joseph and Charlotte (Cooney) Terelmes. She was an avid reader and loved traveling, camping, the beach, Broadway shows, and most of all just spending time with her family. She was a parishioner of St. Bernard Church in Vernon and she let her faith guide her life. When her husband, Richard got ill she spent years devoted to his care. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Hughes and his wife Paula of South Windsor; her daughter, Danette Disbrow and her husband Christian of Wethersfield; brother, Michael Terelmes and his wife Dorothy of West Hartford; her grandchildren, Matthew Hughes and his wife Kelly, and Adrienne Hughes; her great grandson, Brooks; her beloved dog and companion, Buck; her loving caregivers, Sally and Christine; and many other close friends and relatives. Besides her loving husband, she was predeceased by her son, CW4 Robert J. Hughes. The family would like to thank the caregivers of the Vernon VNA Hospice. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
