Obituary for Helen Lorraine Nolan (Rady)

Helen Lorraine (Rady) Nolan, 88, of Vernon, beloved wife of Ronald F. Nolan Sr., passed away Friday, October 07, 2022. She was born March 12, 1934, in Rockville, CT to the late Thomas F. and Margaret (Rink) Rady Jr. Helen had an incredible life of service. She graduated from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1954 and spent 30 years as a nurse in the OR and ER in Rockville and Manchester Hospitals and as a nursing assistant to Dr. Oliver Purnell. She then went on to finish both her BA and MA. She was the Director of Nursing and Nursing Home Administrator for Vernon Manor. She mastered computer programming and worked for both AMES and Travelers. Then, in her early 70's, she became an RN/Social Worker at Pathways in Putnam, helping people overcome addiction, which she considered her dream job. In addition to her professional accomplishments, her husband and six children were her rock and the center of her life. Helen is survived by her two brothers William Rady Sr. and his wife Carol, and Edward Rady and his wife Penny, her six children; Margaret Saunders and her husband Andrew, Ronald F. Nolan, Jr. and his wife Laura, Mary Trainor, Michael Nolan and his wife Laura, Jacklyn Nolan and Timothy Nolan and his wife Lynn, her grandchildren; Sean, Nicholas, David, Heather, Sarah, Meghan, Allyson, Matthew, Timothy, Tyler, Michael and Jeffrey and seven Great-Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother Thomas F. Rady III. Relatives and friends may join the family on Thursday, October 13, 2022, from 4-7PM at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St, Rockville, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 11:00 am at Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 25 St. Bernard’s Terrace, Rockville (Please meet at church).
