Ethel I. (Wheeler) Smith, 89 and wife of the late Roger J. Smith, passed away on Sat., Oct. 29, 2022 at Riverside Healthcare in East Hartford. She was born Feb. 20, 1933 to the late, Charles and Erma (Childs) Wheeler. Ethel was an avid bird watcher and nature lover. She was a stay home mom that took care of her family throughout the years and had a great sense of humor. She loved sewing and knitting and would make many things for her family to wear. Ethel grew up in Wallingford and Meriden, CT. She is survived by her children, Burton Smith, Wendy Galovich and Audrey Smith. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, William Galovich. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Desiree and Benjamin; her great-grandchildren, Charlie, Shelby and Simari. She also is survived by a brother, Ralph Wheeler of Massachusetts and many nieces and nephews and their families, including in Connecticut, Texas, Maine, South Carolina, Florida. She was predeceased by two brothers and their wives. Memorial Services will be held privately for the family.
