Obituary for Floyd "Red" Lackouskas

Floyd "Red" Lackouskas passed away on December 1, 2022, peacefully at his home in Ellington, CT. He is survived by his wife Evelyn Theresa Lackouskas (Letendre), daughter Tammy Lackouskas, sisters Marion DeCarli (Lackouskas), Lila Saternis (Lackouskas), Lillian Walker (Lackouskas), numerous nieces and nephews and his brother in law Bob (Leslie) Letendre . Red was born March 14, 1933, in Sandisfield, MA. He served 4 years in the Navy and fought in the Korean war.

After his time in the service, he was a truck driver for his entire career. He worked at DeCarli’s Express & Hartford Dispatch. His pride was his home. He loved the land and enjoyed mowing, growing fruits, and feeding all the birds and critters. His last wish was to come home and see his land again, which he was granted. His other pride and joy was his time in the Navy and all the friends he made. He and Theresa traveled with this group of friends for the ships reunion to many places around the US.

Red also enjoyed building stone walls. At one time he built 12’ stone retaining wall by himself. He took great pride in his stonework. He loved camping and enjoyed going to Vermont with his beloved 5th wheel trailer.

He is preceded in death by his parents Anthony Lackouskas and Ella Lackouskas (Waters), daughter Bonnie Lackouskas, sisters Gladys Lackouskas, Arlene Stryjeski (Lackouskas) and brother Clayton Lackouskas.

Red will be missed by his family and friends, rest in peace.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 10 to 11 AM with a funeral home service following at 11 AM on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, CT 06066.
