Obituary for Norma Luginbuhl (Diggelmann)

Norma Diggelmann Luginbuhl passed away peacefully after a long illness on January 28, 2023. She was born on February 17, 1944. She was deeply loved by her family and many friends. She embodied humility, compassion, kindness, and hospitality and we will miss her dearly. Norma preferred to let her light shine quietly through her actions which were evident in her life motto that she posted on her refrigerator: Trust in His timing; Rely on His promise; Wait for His answer; Believe in His miracles; Rejoice in His goodness; Relax in His presence.

Besides her husband, Daryl, Norma leaves a large family of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Norma leaves…

… her daughter, Cherinne Wheeler, of Vernon, CT. She also leaves her grandchildren and great-grandchildren including Courtney Vitale and her husband Will, and their children, Emmaline, Charlotte and Wyatt. She leaves her grandsons Daniel, Christian and his companion Jayde Hickman, Samuel, James, Joseph, and granddaughters Katie and Abigail of Vernon.

… her son, Matthew and his wife Heidi of Ellington, CT. She leaves grandson Joshua and his wife Lydia and their daughter Emersyn of Ellington, a grandson Zachary of Vernon and granddaughter, Naomi, of Ellington.

… her daughter, MaryElizabeth Gasser and her husband, Nathan of Downingtown, PA, and their children Eliana, Calina and Gavin.

… her son, Adam and his wife, Jami of Gulph Mills, PA and their children, Simon, Reigan and Evan.

Included in Norma’s family circle was her beloved mother, Elsie (Nana) Lanz who passed away some time ago.

Norma also leaves 3 very close Diggelmann cousins, Richard Diggelmann and his wife Helga of Suwanee, GA, Janet Ellis and her husband, Mike of Normal, IL and Bob Diggelman and his wife Carol of Milwaukee, WI.

In reflecting on Norma’s life, there are many things that are noteworthy, a few that we’ll mention here. When Norma was in her teens, she gave her heart to Jesus and for all these years, she was a wonderful example of a Godly woman. Her faith was evident in all that she did as she loved as Jesus loved. She married her husband and best friend, Daryl Luginbuhl, in 1970, they recently celebrated 52 years of marriage. She raised her family to love the Lord and demonstrated that in her examples of love and hospitality. She cared for many in need through the years. Norma was a Registered Nurse and prior to her retirement, worked as a school nurse in the Ellington CT school system, helping children and young adults with their health challenges. She was a homemaker, a cook and baked a great loaf of bread. After retirement, Daryl and Norma found their way to the Philadelphia area to be near some of their family. Daryl and Norma had the blessed opportunity to serve as missionaries at Hospital Lumiere in Bonne Fin, Haiti. Most of all, she loved to be surrounded by her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to join in one of Norma's funeral services.

An evening visitation starting at 6:30pm followed by a brief service at 7:30pm will be held at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E Lancaster Ave, Downingtown, PA on Monday, January 30, 2023.
