Obituary for J. David Grant
J. David Grant, age 82, of Tolland, CT, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2023. Born on April 17, 1940 in New Brunswick, Canada, he lived a full and meaningful life as a meticulous carpenter, active member of his church, and loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
David was a dedicated employee of Downes Construction Company, where he worked until his retirement in 2006. In his free time, he enjoyed using his skills to fix or build just about anything. He was always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need, and his kindness and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
David was an active member of the United Congregational Church of Tolland, where he devoted much of his time and energy to serving others. He was deeply committed to his church and community.
David was predeceased by his daughter, Kathy Grant LaRosa, but he is survived by his loving wife Beverly, daughter Kimberley Laham, sons-in-law Mohammad Laham and Peter LaRosa, three granddaughters Samantha, Alissa, Jenna, and her husband Daniel Hallak, and sister Joyce Boudreau. They will miss him deeply, but they take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace and reunited with his beloved daughter.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, February 3, 2023 at the Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Rd. (Rte 195) Tolland. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at the United Congregational Church of Tolland, 45 Tolland Green. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the United Congregational Church of Tolland, and the Visiting Nurse and Health Services of CT, in David's memory.
David will be forever remembered as a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he loved and the lives he touched.
