Obituary for Albert E. Samuels Sr.

Albert E. Samuels Sr., 83, of Mansfield Center, beloved husband of June (Rokowski) passed away Friday, February 10, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. Albert, or Sam as he was known to family and friends, was born in Coventry, CT the son of the late David V. Samuels and Eva A. (Kennerson) Samuels. Sam had a love of family, gardening, fishing and travelling. One of his favorite hobbies was eating breakfast at the local breakfast joints and catching up on what was going on around town. Besides his devoted and loving wife, June, he is survived by his children, Albert Samuels Jr., and his wife Sue, Kim Cheney and her husband Dave, Bonnie Meunier and her husband Rob, and his grandchildren: Ryan, Justin, Matt, Kenny, Olivia, Hannah, Pat and Ben. He also leaves behind his sister Sheila Roberts and her husband Roland, Brother in-laws: Burnham Thompson and Harold Rokowski, Sister-in-laws: Sharon Samuels, Paula Rokowski and Norma Beams and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Additionally he left behind, among many friends, Raymond Dumont and his cousin/mischievous partner in crime, Bobbie DelMastro. A special thanks to long time family friend Michelina DeSciscio who lovingly helped care for him the last few years and to the Masonic Care Home Health Team for all their support. He was predeceased by his mother, father, brother David Samuels, sisters: Audrey Green, Geraldine Thompson, Eva Merrill and June Gamache. He was also predeceased by his best friend Byron Thompson. We know that Sam and Byron are having a beer in a barn somewhere in heaven and in case heaven doesn't sell beer, we sent some with him on his journey. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at the Coventry-Pietras Funeral Home, 2665 Boston Tpke. (Rte. 44) Coventry. A Christian Mass will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at St. Columba Church, 328 CT-66, Columbia. A Christian Burial will follow at New Willimantic Cemetery in Willimantic.
