Obituary for Richard Douglas Ellis

Richard Douglas Ellis, 80, of East Windsor passed away Friday, February 24, 2023. He was born May 1,1942 in Rockville, the son of the late Ronald and Helen (Schweizer) Ellis.

Richie was a life long member of the Warehouse Point Fire Department. He always attended the annual firemen’s fairs and loved a parade. He was retired from Emhart Glass/Permasteelisa in 2004. He also repaired small engines and lawn mowers out of his garage for many years. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends, working in his yard and growing beautiful flowers. He truly had a green thumb. He was always happy to see you and share a story with a coffee and a sweet treat.

He is survived by his children, Lisa Ouellette and husband, Dan, Joseph Hunt and wife, Listra Mitchell Hunt, and Katie Malin Hunt and grandchildren, Ricky, Nathan, Liz and JD as well as his sister Susan Burns and brothers, Kenny and David Ellis and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings Ronald Ellis, Shirley Dzen, Donald Ellis, Carolyn Ellis and James Ellis.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at the Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner St., East Windsor, CT.

A graveside service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, March 3, 2023 beginning at Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home with a fireman’s procession to Springdale Cemetery, 247 Main St. East Windsor.
