Obituary for Lorraine C. Mas

Lorraine Carol (Grace) Mas passed away peacefully on February 28, 2023, after a two-year long battle with cancer. Lorraine was born in Hartford on March 29, 1946 and spent most of her life in the northern Connecticut area. She attended East Windsor High School in addition to UMASS Amherst and Asnuntuck Community College. She was a certified EMT and worked for the State of Connecticut as a child-care worker. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Gertrude Grace, along with her siblings – Sharon Grace, John (Butch) Grace, Marion Fitzin, Janet Winter and Cindy Thibodeau.

Lorraine was a fun loving, vibrant soul who is remembered fondly by everyone who knew her. A true Big Foot believer, she was a lover of all things Ireland, strawberries, tweety bird, Donna Summer and Christmastime – but above all, her family meant everything to her. She is survived by her children - Michael Mas of East Windsor, CT; Vincent (Derrick) Mas of Peekskill, NY; Greg (Lauren) Mas of Enfield, CT; and Elithea Mas of West Hartford, CT; her beloved grandchildren – Olivia, Ethan and Benjamin; and many cousins, nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

Calling hours will be held at the Bassinger Funeral Home on Gardner Street in Warehouse Point on Monday, March 13 from 4-7pm, with a graveside service on Tuesday, March 14, at 11:00am at Melrose Cemetery. The family would like to thank everyone for their condolences and prayers during this difficult time. A special thank you to Mary Wyse, Shannon Sorenson and Lorraine’s neighbors at Park Hill - Lois, Dave and Charlene - for all of their help over the past few years.
