Obituary for Arthur Ouellette

It is with great sadness we mourn the passing of Arthur J. Ouellette, Jr. of Vernon. John 76 was born in Montreal, Canada and passed away peacefully on March 1, 2023. He was a son, brother, uncle, granduncle and godfather. Upon returning to the United States, he graduated from Wethersfield High School and the Hartford Institute of Accounting. For many years John worked for Catholic Family Services in Hartford. After leaving there he worked for V.C Roofing in West Hartford, and later retired from Stop & Shop in Vernon. He was a great card and cribbage player, also enjoyed camping, the ocean, bingo, listening to music (Barbara Streisand), the pool, his spiritual trip to Portugal to Our Lady of Fatima and Marthas Vineyard. He liked eating in restaurants and anything chocolate was his favorite. He cheered for the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. At one time John was an active member of St. Luke’s Church in Hartford. There he became the Eucharist Minister and also administered communion for the home bound parish members. He always had a furry friend, most recently his dog Adam and his cat Bebe. Faith, family and friends were always his top priority.

He leaves to mourn him, his sister Dawn and (Frank) Lehninger, his brother in law Daniel Sevigny, his nieces Heather (Brian) Lehninger-Jackson, Christine (Scott) Fyler, and Nicole Cyr. His grandnieces Ashley Madore, Kayla Cyr and many loyal neighbors and friends especially Jerry and Barbara Doody and Michael Massing.

He was predeceased by his parents Arthur J Ouellette, Idessa (Campbell) Ouellette, his sister Dora Lee Sevigny, and a nephew Frank H. Lehninger, Jr. (Skip).

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 10am at St. Bernard Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Vernon. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. John wished donations be made to the Connecticut Humane Society in Newington, CT. For online condolences please visit www.pietrasfunralhome.com.
