Obituary for Ann W. Ortyl (Woronecki)

Ann W. Ortyl (Woronecki), 93, a longtime resident of Rockville CT, passed peacefully at the home of her daughter and son-in-law on March 21, 2023.

She was born to the late Peter Paul Woronecki and Stella Teophila (Balkun) Woronecki in Hartford, CT on April 30, 1929.

Ann was a graduate of Hartford High School and Manchester Community College. She was employed for many years by the State of Connecticut where she was a Supervisor with the Department of Youth Services.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Francis J. “Frank” Ortyl. Ann is survived by her brothers Paul P. Woronecki and his wife Margo of Milan, OH and David E. Woronecki and his wife Sue of Viera, FL.

Ann is forever loved and remembered by her two sons, Richard F. Ortyl of Ellington, CT and Mark E. Ortyl of Selah, WA and by her daughter, Margaret A. Ortyl-Robar and son-in-law, Douglas A. Robar of Dudley, MA.

She also leaves her two beloved grandchildren, R.C. Ortyl and his wife Crystal, of Ellington, CT and Luke T. Ortyl and his wife Raina, of Enfield, CT and eleven great-grandchildren, Kolton, Tatum, Jaz, Gwen, Otto, Wesson, Briar, Zac, Maddie, Holly and James.

Ann was the most wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, upholstering, reading and bird-watching. She enjoyed watching old-time movies by her favorite actors, especially her ‘boyfriend,’ John Wayne. In her later years, she was still a master at puzzle solving and at preparing Polish specialty foods for family. She occasionally dabbled in creative lighting and room rearrangements. She had an amazing sense of humor and was a true joy to be with.

Ann always loved the ocean, going on picnics, enjoying summertime fried clams, visiting Forest Park in Springfield and attending family and holiday gatherings. Family was very important to her. She was very much loved and adored.

Family and friends will gather at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St, Rockville, CT on Monday the 27th from 8:00 AM-8:30 AM with a service to follow at St Joseph’s church in Rockville at 9:00 AM.

She will then be laid to rest next to her husband, Frank, at St. Bernard Cemetery in Vernon, CT.
