Obituary for Albert F. Prentiss

Albert F. Prentiss, 73, of Tolland, died peacefully April 26th, 2023, at Hartford Hospital after a short battle with cancer. He was born June 13, 1949, in Stafford Springs, the son of Milton LeRoy and Evelyn (Furness) Prentiss.

Al graduated from Ellington High School, Class of 1969. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Army for 6 years as a paratrooper. It was during this time he met and married Diane (Putz), settling in and starting a family in Tolland. Diane was his best friend and constant companion celebrating 50 years of marriage in April. Al spent 31 years with UPS as a package truck delivery driver, and numerous years before, during, and after his UPS career working carpentry side jobs. It was during these carpentry jobs he was able to share knowledge with his family and friends, which he enjoyed greatly. He also loved spending time gardening, working outdoors, and bird watching.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings Georgianna (Harmon), James, Charles, and Samuel. Surviving in addition to his wife Diane, are his son Scott and his wife, Joanne, of West Springfield MA. and his son Brian and wife, Amanda, of Lexington SC; four grandchildren, Logan, Haley, Kyle, and Colton; siblings Patricia (Lavallee), Virginia (Levesque), Milton Jr., Howard, William, Barry, and Nona (Tennant); with many nieces and nephews.

His family would like to thank the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff of Hartford Hospital for their support and care.

Calling hours will be held at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St. Rockville, CT Wednesday May 3rd from 5 - 7pm. A private immediate-family burial will occur at a later date.
