Obituary for Kathleen Anne Marek

Kathleen Anne Marek, 52, of Stafford Springs passed away unexpectedly at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center of New York on April 27th, surrounded by her loving family. Kathleen was born at Hartford Hospital on January 30, 1971, daughter of the late John Robert Marek and the late Margaret Jane (Shearer) Marek. She is survived by her beloved son, Nicholas Austin Taylor, of Stafford Springs; her siblings John, Michael, and Lisa. Kathleen also leaves behind several other family members including Mark Taylor and wife Donna, aunt Diane Mixon and husband Larry; uncles, Jack Shearer, Jim Shearer, Richard Marek, and Jimmy Weber, and several cousins, her beloved nephew, Joey Marek; nieces, Sarah Marek, Catharine Marek, and Torie Bernier. She was predeceased by her mother Margaret Jane, and father, John; her son, Jakob David Wampold; her brother, Joe Marek; her grandparents, John Michael Marek, Catherine (Roman) Marek, Gertrude Peltier Buteau, and James Buteau.

Kathleen was raised in Tolland where she spent most of her life surrounded by lifelong friends who she loved dearly. She attended St. Matthew’s Church in Tolland with her parents growing up and always embraced the Lord’s hand to get through trying times. Kathleen was deeply passionate about music, movies, and television shows, especially cartoons. She was a loving, caring soul who will be remembered by her family and friends for the amount of empathy she displayed for everyone she loved. Kathleen acted in many roles throughout her life, but nothing made her prouder than being a loving mother to her son, Nicholas. They were inseparable; with the amount of love that she had for her son and family having no end. She will be missed dearly by his family and all of the lives that she touched.

Kathleen’s family would like to thank those who reached out to us in this time with their special memories, condolences, and contributions. We also wish to extend our thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at the Memorial Sloan Kettering ICU and Hartford Hospital.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 5 to 7 PM with a funeral home service following at 7 PM on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Rd. (Rte. 195) Tolland, CT.
