Obituary for Brent A. Carl

Brent Carl (age 55) died peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. Raised in Elmira NY, he was the son of the late Howard Carl, and Janet (Pfeifer) Sharp.

Brent graduated from Twin Tiers Baptist High School, then attended Clarks Summit University, where he met his wife, Bonnie. He then went on to get a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Cairn University.

Brent and Bonnie have 2 children, Serena and Ethan. He is survived by many loving family members, including his brother, Michael Carl, and wife Wendy. Brent also cherished his extended family, including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Brent’s greatest desire was to point people to Jesus. He spent his life in Christian ministry as a pastor and teacher in New Hampshire, New York, Maryland, and Connecticut. He was also a chaplain for several businesses, and was involved in short-term missions in Ukraine, Senegal, Mexico, Kenya, and Malaysia. One of his favorite experiences was distributing Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes for Samaritan’s Purse in Ecuador.

Most recently, he served as the volunteer and community relations manager at Midwest Food Bank. Brent’s love for the Lord, and service to others leaves a lasting impact on so many people.

Calling hours will be held Friday, Aug. 18, from 5:00-8:00 pm. at the Longview Fellowship Center
34 Middle Butcher Rd. Ellington, CT 06029. ( Behind the Apostolic Christian Church) A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 19, at 10:30am. at Longview Fellowship Center.
