Obituary for David Eugene LaMore

David Eugene "Thin Elk" LaMore, 82 of Enfield, Coventry, & Mansfield, CT.

Born February 2, 1941 and crossed over on October 23, 2023.

Dave was predeceased by his mother, Dorothey (Hennessy) LaMore; and his father LeRoy W. LaMore, and special friend Nancy "Taffi" Spencer.

He is survived by brothers Donald LaMore (Leslie) of Somers, CT; Douglas LaMore (Annette) of Winter Park, Florida; and sister Sherry (LaMore) Gravelle (Cedric) of Southington, CT; and many nieces and nephews.

Dave is also survived by David Hand; Jonathan Hand (Allyson); Mark Hand (Kacie); Christopher Hand (Amy Perri), whom he considered sons, and who's children he considered his grandchildren, and who are most grateful for his presence in their lives.

Dave grew up in Enfield, CT, and graduated from Enfield HS on June 24, 1960.

He joined the US Army in October 1963, served his country as an MP in Puerto Rico.

Dave enjoyed giving back to his community through public service and was a Life Member of Coventry Volunteer Fire Assn., a long-time Member of the Tri-County Fire Police, was an EMT, drove the ambulance, and served on the CoventryVision Committee ensuring public meetings were recorded. He was the Animal Control Officer for the Town of Coventry before he drove delivery trucks for Bogner Meats.

Dave "Thin Elk" was Ceremony Master for Wolf Den Pow Wow for many years, and they were grateful to have him. He filmed the meetings of the New England Coastal Schaghticoke Indian Tribe for 15 years and was an honored elder for many more.

Dave can now again be with his many pets that he loved so much over the years.
