Obituary for Nancy Q. Edmondson

Nancy Q. Edmondson, 91, of Coventry passed away peacefully on November 3, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on December 8,1931 to Evelyn & Richard Quilitch in Hartford, CT. She graduated from Manchester High School, Class of 1949. She attended UConn, leaving to raise a family and then graduating from MCC at the age of 60.

She was employed in the banking industry for many years and finished her career as a payroll officer at UConn.

Nancy met her husband (Clarence “Coy”) of 49 years at a square dance at the Congregational Church in Coventry and were married on November 24,1956.

Nancy is survived by her children, Paul (Janet), Peter, Bonnie (Cheryl) along with four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and her sisters Barbara Gordon & Patricia Tieslau. Barbara & Nancy were best friends from childhood, traveled extensively and were always on the lookout for a new adventure together. She also has several nieces & nephews.

Nancy will be remembered for her grand sense of humor and never-ending love for her family. She loved to cook, but also enjoyed sampling the fare at a good restaurant. Traveling on cruise ships to ports of call around the world was one of her favorite hobbies along with working daily crossword puzzles, keeping up with current events, cheering on the UConn woman’s basketball team, spending winters in Florida, and most importantly enjoying her grand and great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the home health providers from Helping Hands and Hartford Health Care at Home Hospice services who gave her wonderful and loving care.

A celebration of life will take place at the Second Congregational Church in Coventry on November 12, 2023 at 2:00 pm.
