Obituary for Summer Montpetit
Summer Grace Montpetit passed peacefully from this world surrounded by love on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at the tender age of 40 years.
Summer was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on January 11, 1977. She graduated from Ellington High School in 1995 and studied at Southern Connecticut State University. She performed office work at Massack Memorial Home and was on the Board of Directors for Rhodes, Inc.
Summer is survived by her loving family including her husband, Sacha Giacamello of Australia, her parents Marie Montpetit of Ellington, CT and Stephen and Gwen Schools of York, PA; and her sister Merrilee McFeaters of Hartford, CT. She also leaves behind many beloved cousins and friends including Domenick Winter and Michelle Harting who raised her spirits during her most difficult times. In addition, she leaves behind her beloved dog Delfina and furry nephew and niece, Pillsbury and Nestle McFeaters.
She will be lovingly remembered by all those who loved, knew, or even casually met her as she had the most infectious smile and laugh. Not only was she kind, compassionate, and accepting, she was also funny, acerbic, and never afraid to be herself or speak her mind. She was a genuinely authentic person who championed the causes of humanity which included body acceptance, feminism, LGBTQ, and animal rights. Indeed, she advocated for the rights of anyone who felt excluded or unaccepted. Summer had the most kind soul and loved her family and friends deeply. She had a great fondness for giraffes and hippos and loved music, loved to sing and dance, and loved to socialize.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St. Rockville, CT 06066 on Thursday, July 6th from 5-7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard's Church, 25 St. Bernard Terrace, Rockville, CT on Friday, July 7th at 10 am. Burial will follow at Ellington Center Cemetery.
