Cash Disbursements
Many funeral homes do not include this service for their families. The Pietras Funeral Home Inc. has always included this service and will assume cash advance items for your family and will add these charges to your account. These items may include cemetery charges, death certificates, clergy and music honorariums, monument engraving, or anything else we are instructed to include. Some funeral homes will charge a service fee on top of the exact charges of cash advances. While this is legal, the Pietras Funeral Home Inc. does NOT add a service fee; the charges are the exact amount charged to our funeral home.
What is a Burial Vault?
A burial vault is a lined and sealed outer receptacle that houses the casket. It protects the casket from the weight of the earth and heavy maintenance equipment that will pass over the grave. It also helps resist water and preserves the beauty of the cemetery or memorial park by preventing the ground from settling.
