Tonny (Bast) Verfaille went peacefully to her Lord Jesus on May 26, 2008. Born in Baarn, Holland on November 9, 1917, she was one of eleven children. Her family moved to Hilversum, Holland where she grew up. She married at 24 and moved to Den Helder, Holland where she worked in the Verfaille family’s French pastry shop along side her husband, Johannes Verfaille, Sr. In 1957 the Verfaille family moved to Bolton, Connecticut where she and her husband raised their four children. She then lived in Ellington for many years, but most recently made her home with her daughter Lucienne and family. Tonny was a very special Mother, Oma and friend to all her knew her. She was a strong, kind, generous and spiritual woman. All who had the pleasure to know her will sorely miss her.
Tonny leaves behind her son, Johannes Verfaille and wife Michelle, her daughter Hellen Sheehan and husband James, her daughter Lucienne Pinto and husband Greg, and her special “daughter” Diane Miller. She also leaves her granddaughters, Johey, Ninotchka, Leela, Shanti, and Zoey and her great grandchildren Grace, Zoe, Eliza, Alden and Klara. Besides her husband Johannes, she was predeceased by her daughter Yvonne Krause and her husband Bryan Krause, and by their daughters Sharon, Heidi and Tanya.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 10-11 a.m., Saturday, June 7, 2008 at the Small - Pietras Funeral Home, 65 Elm Street, Rockville. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home on Saturday morning.
