Margaret Annette (Steppen) Zanks, 90, of Ellington, beloved wife of the late Albert Zanks passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 25, 1925 in East Windsor, the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Skoschuta) Steppen. She enjoyed weekly auctions, gardening and feeding birds. She was an avid collector of teacups and paper weights. She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Allen and Monica Zanks and James and Barbara Zanks all of Stafford Springs; her sisters, Alice Ferese and Katherine Sperry; her brothers and their spouses, Albie and Doris Steppen and Joseph and Eileen Steppen; her sister-in-law, Marylin Steppen; her grandchildren and their spouses, Jeffrey and Kimberly Zanks, Joseph and Toni Zanks, Benjamin and Kelly Zanks and Emily Zanks; her great grandchildren, Cody and Kyle Zanks, Kendra and Kelsey Zanks and Elias and Emerson Zanks; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Anna, Tessie, Frank, Frances, Charles, John and Anthony Steppen. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at the Small & Pietras Funeral Home, 65 Elm St. Rockville, CT 06066. A Funeral Home Service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, March 7, 2016 at the Small & Pietras Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Broad Brook.
