Tony attended Scranton schools, including Scranton Lackawanna College, where he met his future wife, and earned a bachelor degree from the University of Scranton. He enlisted in the USAF during the Korean War and proudly served 3 years in Europe and Africa.
After starting out in sales roles, including at Remington Rand, he then worked in the new computer based Information Technology field at Capital Records, which brought the family from Pennsylvania to Thousand Oaks, California, and then United Technologies Pratt & Whitney division in Connecticut where the family settled and he eventually retired after an exemplary 25 year career, which included interesting travel opportunities.
Tony was devoted to his family and loved visits, reunions and trips with family members. His fondest memories were of his large and extended family spending time together and keeping those connections alive. He was always there when needed and never stopped worrying about his family, no matter their age.
He dearly loved his 5 children, 6 grandkids and 5 great grandkids equally, and had a special place in his heart for his nearly 50 nieces and nephews and their families. He also thanks his first godchild, Patricia Quinn Moffa for keeping him updated on the extended Walsh family.
Tony was active in the Coventry community in his younger years, serving as coach for both girls & boys baseball and basketball when his children were in school, the Planning & Zoning Commission, Judge of Probate and School Board during that time.
Besides his beloved wife Grace, Tony is survived by 3 daughters and 2 sons; Grace Johnson and the late Daniel Johnson of West Hartford, Debbie Hunt, Anthony Walsh, Mary and husband Duncan Hall and Larry Walsh, all of Coventry and his 6 grandchildren Elizabeth, Abigail, Marc, Jamie, Alissa and Alexandra and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by seven sisters, Mary Duhigg, Dorothy Quinn, Eleanore Walsh, Grace Perry, Mildred Cliff, Ann Halpin and Joan O’Hearn and 2 brothers James & Gerard Walsh.
A private family mass will be held and a celebration of life ceremony will be planned in spring due to COVID.
